Matt Dimbylow, Sportitots
Matt Dimbylow has always been passionate about sport, but it wasn't until he was diagnosed with extra pyramidal syndrome, a variant of Parkinson's disease, that he began to think about turning that passion into a business. Matt had a successful career in IT and business intelligence at a major firm of management consultants, but it was no longer right for him. "After my diagnosis I felt that a regular nine-to-five job was no longer suitable. By starting my own business I have tried to turn the negatives of my new situation into a positive".
Launching a business whilst knowing he had an incurable disease was extremely stressful, but Matt wasn't going to let it beat him. Having two young children highlighted the lack of opportunity for them in sport, which led to the idea of Sportitots: providing sporting activities for pre-school children. Ready to Start helped Matt in the early stages of his business and he has now expanded his ideas with All-Stars for the 5-11 age group. Matt is passionate about creating opportunities in sport for children of all backgrounds and abilities and hopes to expand the business into a franchise operation that spreads across the country.
On top of all this, Matt was part of the GB Paralympic Football Squad at the Beijing Paralympic Games. This opportunity has further fired his vision to support the Olympians and Paralympians of the future, and there are already plans for Matt to take part in road-shows for the FA relating to Disability Football. As well as achieving his own goals, he is now helping others to achieve theirs.
