Barclays Trading Places 2010

28 June 2010

Have you, or someone you know, beaten the odds to triumph in business?

Leonard Cheshire Disability supports Barclays Trading Places in their national search to find men and women who have beaten the odds to triumph in business.

Barclays are looking for individuals with an inspiring story to tell and whose grit and determination have turned tragedy into triumph.

There are some great prizes to be won, including the opportunity to receive valuable local and national publicity, which can really help put a business on the map. The closing date for entries is 16th July.

Disabled business owners that we have worked with on our Ready to Start and Enabled4Growth programmes have done well in these awards in the past and we actively encourage people to enter again this year. For more information and an entry form go to www.barclays.co.uk/tradingplaces

Last year Joe Brown, of Joe Brown’s Egg Round, won the Success after Unemployment category. He says “I would encourage anyone to enter. Barclays made the whole thing a great experience. I bought an Electric Buggy for my delivery business with the Barclays prize money. It means I can continue to expand my business now.” Visit Joe’s website at www.joebrownsegground.co.uk .

Maverick TV

24 February 2010

Maverick TV is producing a major new series for the BBC, looking for new products that should be sold in high street shops, but have yet to find their market.  We have unique access to the buying departments of some of the biggest names on the high street, who have committed to stocking the best of what they see.  All overseen by Theo Paphitis of Dragon’s Den.

We would love to hear from anyone with a product, whether it be clothing, food, jewellery or the new Dyson, who would like the chance to pitch to a current major retailer. Open days will be held, and subsequent filming beginning early next year.
